Chanel continue to have their sights set on Shanghai, the city where Karl found the inspiration for his last collection, just before presenting his Cruise line in Saint Tropez. A few months ago Peter Phillips, Chanel Makeup's creative director, presented a line inspired by Shanghai and now it's finally seeing the light.
The line is called Extreme Orient, and it's dominated by black and gold contrasts. The themes include exaggeration, sumptuousness and a modern vision of classic China.
It all started with Lagerfeld's interest in the film In the Mood for Love. Then, Peter found a style that features gold and velvet black.
With opulent tones, the line features interesting creations like gold eyeshadow with exaggerated eyeliner and a gold and black mix on the nails. Definitely a must.
